| Mr. Khalid Ramy, Egyptian Minister of Tourism, had a joint session with Captain Hossam Kamal, Minister of Aviation. They discussed ways for mutual cooperation and proposals for restoring the tourist influx to the country. The meeting was attended by officials from both ministries.
Mr. Ramy stressed the importance of close cooperation and coordination between the ministries of tourism and aviation, referring to the strategy adopted currently by the government to promote tourism through improving the marketing capacity, and targeting prominent generating markets and potential markets as well.
"Integrated and coordinated work is imperative to develop the tourist sector, noting that aviation is the backbone for the tourist industry," he added.
The Minister of Aviation made it clear that the aviation sector coordinates with all other sectors that contribute to the increase of traffic to the country, on top of which is the tourism sector. Coordinating with these sectors would help increase the tourist influx to all Egyptian airports, noting that the ministry and all subordinate companies work based on plans and strategies to reach an annual increase rate that serve the national economy in the long run.
Both ministers agreed to operate one direct flight from London to Luxor next summer. They also discussed the necessary measures to open a direct line linking Japan to Cairo to enhance tourist flows from this country to Egypt and serve the national interests of Egypt for a direct link with Japan.
The meeting also tackled the support mechanisms offered from both ministries at Egyptian airports to foreign airlines, and stimulating this trends in southern airports in particular. | | |
