Capmas - Construction, Tourism Contribute to Decreasing Unemployment Rate
Chairman of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) Abu-Bakr El-Gendy said that the unemployment rate fell during the second quarter of 2105 to 12.7% compared to 13.3% in the corresponding quarter of last year as a result of the intensity of employment in construction and tourism sectors. He explained in remarks to reporters on Monday 17/8/2015 that the construction sector during the period from April to June of this year witnessed a decline in the unemployment rate as a result of labor-intensive project at new Suez Canal projects that ranging from 20,000 - 22, 000 workers in addition to the one-million housing units construction, as well as the recovery of the tourism sector. It has been expected that those projects announced by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi yesterday would provide more job opportunities which would reflect positively on the unemployment rate.
