Egypt pays attention to developing civil aviation sector
The civil aviation sector gained great attention in Egypt Vision 2030 launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with a plan aiming to develop and open airports and improve the efficiency of the navigation and air traffic control systems. New airports had been opened over the past years including Sphinx Airport at a cost of EGP 300 million, New Administrative Capital Airport, and Berenice International Airport (EGP 430 million). Airports of Borg Al Arab, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Aswan, Luxor, and Port Said had been upgraded. EgyptAir also received six planes of Boeing 787 Dreamliner and a number of planes of 15 Airbus A320neo planes scheduled to join the national carrier's fleet. New 300 pilots had joined the company in conjunction with increasing the company's fleet. However, the EgyptAir Holding Company had been negatively affected by the coronavirus crisis due to the suspension of air flights, a matter which made Finance Minister Mohamed Maeit offer a two-billion loan to the company in the implementation of presidential directives.
