Tripadvisor placed the two cities in a list among recommended 25 destinations for sun and warm weather lovers.
The two cities were chosen in Tripadvisor’s list according to tourists’ reviews about their experiences in different touristic destinations, the statement added.
The global travel guidance platform backed the reasons of choosing Hurghada due to its extinguished nature and other touristic factors like breathtaking coral reefs and Triquoise water for windsurfing that made it among the best coastal destinations for the European tourists who enjoys snorkeling, diving, dolphins watching and other activities.
It also referred to the urban development that the city witnessed over the last decade.
Meanwhile, Tripadvisor described Sharm El-Sheikh as attraction destination for divers and environmental tourism lovers, noting the economic growth and development that took place there made it among the most luxurious tourism resorts.
It also referred to Ras Mohamed nature protectorate that is located 12 kilometers away from Sharm El-Sheikh.
Earlier this year, Trip Advisor listed Hurghada 10th most popular destination in 2022, while Cairo was named as the most second trending destination worldwide and the ninth best destination for city lovers in a different ranking that included cities in Mexico and Australia.
Tourism sector in Egypt revived in the second half of 2021 after the resumption of the Russian flights to Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh in August.
Around 3.5 million tourists visited Egypt in the first half of 2021, according to Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The Egyptian tourism had begun to recover following the setback caused due to the global cautious restrictions since the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) outbreak in 2020.
Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said in May that Egypt is expected to receive between $ 10 to 12 billion of tourism revenues during Egypt’s fiscal year, which starts from July to June, despite Egypt’s loss of 35 percent of tourism flow due to the absence of tourists coming from regions that are currently indulging in the Russian war on Ukraine.
“Tourism revenues in 2021 reached over $ 13 billion to reach pre-pandemic levels,” Deputy of Tourism Minister Ghada Shalaby told Reuters.
Tourism is crucial for the Egyptian economy. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed in June a draft for the Egyptian tourism promotion strategy to absorb the impact of the war.
Egypt had lifted in June all covid-19 restrictions imposed on its arriving nationals abroad and foreign tourists, as it considered it enough to show accredited vaccination certificate, amid the fall of the number of related infections globally.
The North African country’s tourism sector was affected by Covid-19 impacts with the number of tourists reportedly dropping to 3.7 million in 2020 from 13 million in 2019, before rising to 8.2 million in the first 9 months of the fiscal year 2021/22, according to Central Bank of Egypt data.
The North African country’s tourism revenue in 2020 was only $ 4 billion. | | | | 1/9/2022 | https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/1238/474211/Egypt/Tourism/Tripadvisor-lists-Hurghada,-Sharm-ElSheikh-among-b.aspx |
